    May 13, 2023 /

Things to do in Avondale house and why we love it for a family day out with the kids near Dublin. Avondale House in a Home and Estate in County Wicklow and a wonderful place to spend a day out with the kids. Originally the house and estate of Parnell, until a few years ago Avondale House was a nice estate with a large playground cfae and a fascinating forest walk. However, Avondale House and Gardens recently went through a significant makeover and it is now equipped with a tree walk, a state-of-the-art playground for children and food options. We used to go Avondale all the time: having family nearby,…

Malahide Castle with kids: all you need to know to visit this stunning estate

    May 13, 2020 /

Malahide Castle with kids: why we love this family friendly castle near Dublin and recommend it for an easy, fun, family day out with the kids. Malahide Castle is one of the most popular places for a family day out in Dublin and it is easy to see why: the castle that gives the name of the estate is beautiful (and can be nice for parents to visit), there are expansive grounds for kids to run around and wonderful playgrounds with huge climbing structures perfect for children small and big. On top of this, here you have a large Avoca cafe which, while often very busy, is excellent for a…

Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park: all you need to know to plan a fun family day out in Kildare

    May 13, 2020 /

Lullymore Village is a beautiful family attraction in Country Kildare. It has a nice playground, a lovely boardwalk, a fun road train, a fairy garden, educational opportunities and a family-friendly restaurant and indoor play area. Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park was a great discovery for us. Located in County Kildare, it is a great place for a family day out with young kids as it has opportunities to walk, play (indoor and outdoor) a fun road train and educational opportunities in the heritage village. We first went where the kids were tiny and we all had great fun! These are the best things to see and do in Lullymore.

Glenroe Farm: open farm and playground for a great family day out

    May 13, 2020 /

Glenroe farm in Co Wicklow is a great place for a family day out with little kids. This is our review and why we recommend it for a fun family day out near Dublin with small kids Glenroe Farm is an open farm in County Wicklow with lovely spaces and activities for families with kids. The main house hosts a nice cafe and the grounds have a lovely playground, walks a fairy garden and there is an option to see animals and even pet some of them: they have super cute, soft rabbits! Glenroe Farm is well indicated from the main road between Dublin and Wicklow and we first visited…

Glendalough: all you need to know for visiting this stunning Irish historical site

    May 10, 2020 /

All you need to know to visit Glendalough, Co. Wicklow. What to see in Glendalough, how to get there, why it is worth seeing this beautiful natural and historical site. Glendalough is one of my favorite places in Ireland and one I never tire of visiting, no matter how often we go. I first visited Glendlaugh 25 years ago: it was the first stop on my Ireland road trip and I got there as the sun started to set. The place was empty, silent and still and I still remember that first around the lakes as a magical time. Since then, I have been to Glendalough more times than I…

All you need to know to plan a visit to Birr Castle, Ireland and why this is the best Irish castle to visit if you love astronomy or if you are looking for a fun day out with the kids. I am always on the hunt for good day trips from Dublin we can take with the kids and one day, towards the end of October, I came across a place I hadn’t encountered before: Birr castle.
