Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park: all you need to know to plan a fun family day out in Kildare
Lullymore Village is a beautiful family attraction in Country Kildare. It has a nice playground, a lovely boardwalk, a fun road train, a fairy garden, educational opportunities and a family-friendly restaurant and indoor play area.
Lullymore Heritage and Discovery Park was a great discovery for us.
Located in County Kildare, it is a great place for a family day out with young kids as it has opportunities to walk, play (indoor and outdoor) a fun road train and educational opportunities in the heritage village.
We first went where the kids were tiny and we all had great fun! These are the best things to see and do in Lullymore.
Things to do in Lullymore
Lullymore is a great family attraction organized in several areas. These are the things our kids enjoyed the most.
Take a walk on the boardwalk
Part of Lullymore is covered by peatlands, an interesting type of terrain that has been an important source of fuel for Ireland and is also a wonderful habitat for many species of animals and plants.

This area is accessible via a well-kept boardwalk that makes it easy to walk on this otherwise difficult terrain. The walk is easy to tackle with kids and has several information panels that teach about how the bog formed and what is special about it.
It is a pleasant walk.
Our kids loved spotting animals along it and also the fairy doors that dot Lullymore and make even longer walks acceptable to little legs!
To make the most of your walk, make sure you get the map and treasure hunt kit on arrival: it is very exciting for little kids and a good way to cover a lot of ground and discover the park while playing.
Discover Irish heritage and biodiversity
As well as a great place for a walk and family fun, Lullymore is also a nice place to learn about Irish heritage and history.
Among the several exhibits, here you can explore and learn about stone age dwellings, learn about the Great Famine in the famine cottage and also learn about Christianity in the V century in the wonderful monastery (this is a pretty cool learning opportunity especially if you mix it with a trip to Glendalough on a different day).
You can access and visit the heritage center in your own time, which is perfect for kids as there is no pressure to see everything.
Many of the exhibits are very easy even for small kids to relate to and enjoy, even at an age when wider historical background may be too hard to grasp.

Play in the Playground and the indoor play area
Lullymore also has both an outside playground with nice climbing frames and seating area for the parents and an indoor play area (Funky forest) with climbing frames, ball tubs etc.
When we went the first time, we didn’t expect anything as good or as big and our kids were over the moon and spent most of the afternoon here!
It is a wonderful place for children and pretty much alone worth the drive to Lullymore!

Ride the Road train
It is hard to beat the excitement that a train provokes in children and Lullymore knows this.
This is why they have a road train for its visitors to explore the estate!
The train is indeed fun for kids and it is a great way to see slightly farther away area of Lullymore Park which you may not get to reach on foot.

Visit the Themed Gardens
Lullymore has several themed gardens that are fun for a walk. Something special you have here is a model of Newgrange and of a Dolmen, which are cool for kids but all the gardens are special and very pleasant for a walk, with several things to spot along the way.

Play on the Crazy Golf Course
We haven’t played the crazy golf here however, Lullymore has a cool 18 hole crazy golf course just beside the outdoor play area which is perfect for the whole family.
Visit the farm
Lullymore also has a nice farm where you can see animals up close. Our favorites were the pot-bellied pigs but you also have alpacas, rabbits, goats, sheep, pony and more!
