Fantastic family hotels in Ireland you and your kids will love
A handpicked selection of the best family hotels in Ireland for a family-friendly getaway that is fun for all ages, from kids to grandparents!
Ireland has many family hotels and spending a couple of nights in one of them is one of the easiest ways to have a bit of a break without having to go abroad, if you are a local, or to rest during our Irish road trip if on vacation in Ireland with kids.
Depending on your budget and party, you can choose between several options.
Some family hotels in Ireland are geared towards families with little kids and boast kids clubs and baby facilities.
Others are good for all ages and are welcoming to kids but also offer amenities for parents and grandparents!
Spending a long weekend in a family hotel is pretty popular with Irish families and I have myself become a fan of it.
When we can, we like to spend a couple of nights or even just one night away in a nice hotel with the kids.
They love the novelty, usually have masses of fun in the hotel pool/playground and we parents have a little bit of a break.
Not having to cook and being able to roll out of bed and find yourself in front of a ready, amazing breakfast, is basically all we need to feel on holiday!
This is a shortlist of the best family-friendly hotels in Ireland, hotels we chose for facilities, offerings and welcome.

Best castle hotels in Ireland for families
If you want to treat your family to a very special hotel stay in Ireland, then you may want to consider staying in a castle.
For the longest time, I didn’t think this would be something my family would enjoy but after a super successful weekend in Waterford castle wow, we are hooked!
Not all castle hotels in Ireland are family-friendly but some are. these are our favorites.
Ashford Castle – the best luxury family hotel in Ireland
Ashford Castle is a 5-star castle hotel and it is the ultimate castle hotel stay for families in Ireland if your budget can stretch to it.

The place is simply stunning and the activities on offer for kids out of this world. First of all, this is a real castle and staying here makes you feel properly regal.
Second, it has activities in its estate that are just great fun such as falconry and archery, treasure hunt and
Last but not least, they offer proper regal treatment to little guests with personalized welcome gifts, lego Butler set and of course delicious treats in their children’s menu.
You can find this and all additional wonders offered to families by Ashford Castle here.
Waterford castle hotel
We discovered Waterford castle hotel when we stayed here for a wedding and it very quickly became one of our favorite places in Ireland or a break with kids too.

The hotel is on a small private island (you get there with a tiny crossing over a barge, you don’t even need to leave the car), it has lovely gardens and forests just around it, lovely rooms and an outstanding restaurant onsite.
With kids, you can stay in the castle itself (it is not crazy expensive) or you can opt for self-catering facilities in the newer cottages around the main castle.
These are a lovely option for families with many kids in particular or for longer stays, when you may want to cook your own meals. You can find information and accommodation options for families here
